Notice of Race

1. Rules

The Gov Cup rules will be governed by the ISF racing rules of Sailing for 2009-2012

2. Alterations of the Racing Rules:

The Sailing Instructions will specifically identify alterations the racing rules.

3. Eligibility

1. PHRF Boats must meet the minimum safety standards as described by the US Sailing Offshore Council’s Special Regulations – Class Four.

2. Yachts must be 22′ LOA or longer.

3. All boats must carry a minimum crew of three (3).

4. Maximum crew rule will be enforced.

5. All yachts must be registered by 1800 June 17, 2011.  Registration desk will be open at the Myrtle Beach yacht club: Friday, June 17, 2011.

6. All yachts must have current Long Bay Sailing Association (LBSA) PHRF rating certificates.

7. US Coast Guard regulations will apply.

4. Schedule of Events:

Friday, June 17

1800 – 2100 Late Registration and package pick up at the Myrtle Beach Yacht Club

1900 Skippers meeting

Saturday, June 18

11.10am Warning Signal for First Race, followed by Race 2 and possibly Race 3

1800-2200 Post Race Party at Eagle Nest

Sunday, June 19

11.10am Warning Signal for Race 3 or 4

1530 Awards Presentation at Eagle nest

5. Classes are defined as:

Racing = any boat flying a spinnaker or with a PHRF equal to or lower than 130

Cruising = all other boats

Fleets may be divided further based on the number of boats entered.

6. Fees

Yachts may be entered in advance by completing a registration form/fee schedule and sending them with payment and disclaimer to the address shown on the form. The entry fee for the regatta is $30.00 for members and non-members of LBSA that have not paid for the full season. There will be a late registration fee of $40.00 for all yachts entered after 1800 June 16, 2011. Sailing instructions will be available at registration. A $15 wrist band will be asked for the two, after the race, parties. (Saturday & Sunday)

8. Courses:

Diagrams will be with the Sailing Instructions.

9. Scoring

The NC/ SC Governors’ Offshore Cup will be awarded to the overall winner based on the lowest corrected time per mile.

10. Prizes:

The number of boats entered in each class will determine the numbers of trophies
