Confusion Reigns on Race Course, Brings Unusual Results

There was a little drama on the race course for race 1.
Course D was a triangle and a sausage. With an excellent choice of the left side, with the tide running out, Southern Cross rounded the first mark well ahead of the racing fleet. Webejammin followed shortly and, in what would have been the reaching leg, passed Southern Cross to lead the whole fleet in the wrong direction toward the seabuoy instead of properly moored reaching mark. Runaway was the only boat that  saw the mark. A brief communication and the fleet went back to round the buoy. Runaway finished first ahead of the racing while Webejammin, not paying attention to the chaos, did the sausage and was DNF for not rounding the proper mark. A lot of unhappy sailors….
First time ever  in the history of the club that the cruising fleet finished ahead of the racing class. Full results are on the “Racing” tab. Photos are on the “Photo Galleries” tab.

Likety Split takes racing honors; Achilles Heel runs wise race in cruising class

With no rain, a nice breeze from the east around 10/ 12 knots , the last races of the season were a real treat for the participating skippers.
In the racing Likety  won both races and edged out TeeSou to grab the title in a heated  battle.
In the cruising, Southern Cross  showed great potential once again, but pleasure was spoiled by Achilles Heel  in the second race. Al choose wisely the left side of the course when the wind shifted 20 degrees to the right. Confidence III  remains the champion by a comfortable margin. Next year’s season  will be very interesting.
Next event will be a last cruising rally and beach party on   October 22, weather permitting

Southern Cross takes first in Cruising Class; Teesou tops Racing Class

Excitement was the key word  this Saturday in the cruising fleet. Despite very late starts ,Jaime on Southern Cross finished both races  well ahead of  Confidence III,  leader of the cruising fleet this season.
Is it the new keel job or the flawless crew work ? Time will tell on the next  round .Blind Date  got a DNF after a protest by David  for obstruction( stalled on port)  at the start of the second race.
Interesting to note that Scott was singlehandling the boat and if it has not been out ,would have finished both race in second position( corrected).
In the racing fleet without Webejamin to arbitrate, the musical chairs  dance continue between TeeSou and Likety Split.,  Annick holding on  the lead  with a tight grip.
Pictures will be on the website shortly. The last races are scheduled for September 24th, weather permitting.
